Film of a day trip to Helm Crag, Grasmere Helm Crag
Ive been quiet for a while with the new baby and all, plus work.
Im off out today in the pouring rain to get some training in for my charity barefooted walk up scafell pike in aprox 3 weeks time.
I`ll be taking along my new GoPro HD HERO camera to test it out.
I will update you on how i get on…..
We arrived at pen y pass car park at 04:00 still dark a few people were milling about on the car park.
I decided to do the climb barefooted to get some training in for my barefoot charity walk in august in the lake district.
It was quite warm and the ground was cool, les started the pace at a bloody jog as usual so keeping up barefoot was difficult to start with.
We arrived at the tarns just below the snowdon summit (miners track). still nobody about.
The weather was getting warmer as we started the climb and you could tell we were going to get a good cloud inversion as it was creeping round quite rapid.
The going was quite rough under foot at the start of the climb.
We reached the summit to have it all by ourselves. (well for about half an hour)
The crowds and media start to appear and take over the summit.
And finally at about 10:00 Sir chris bonnington arrives (by train) with the torch.
A good day had by all i think, and we did at least make the news both the ITV and BBC.
So long wales……..till next time…………………………..
At 02:00 we will be setting off to Wales to climb snowdon.
At aprox 08:00 the Olympic torch will be lazily going to the summit by train. One it’s a chance for me to climb it as I’ve never done any walking in Wales.
Two, it’s going to put in some training for my barefooted sponsored walk up scafell pike in August.
I’ll add some photos when I get back.. We’re also going to climb Tryfan as well after snowdon.. I’ll keep you updated..
